Ann Clough Basnight has been doing genealogical research for 15 years and has been speaking for 10. She specializes in North Carolina research especially in the Eastern half of the state with special interest in the Colonial Period. She has spoken at local societies for the past 10 years and spoke at the NCGS state meeting in 2006.
Ann is currently serving as president of the North Carolina Genealogical Society. She is a member of many Local North Carolina Societies as well as the Virginia Society and the National Society.
Ann has a BS and MS Home Economics Education; and was a classroom teacher 30 years. She has been actively doing Genealogy since 1990. She has served as editor for Tyrrell Branches journal for 5 years, Past President of Beaufort County Genealogy Society. Served 5 years as member of North Carolina Genealogical Society Board of Directors and is currently serving as President of that society.
She has been attending the National Genealogical Society and Federation of Genealogical Societies national meetings since 1999. In 2005 she attended the National Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research at National Archives in Washington, DC and in 2004, 2006 and 2007 attended the Institute of Genealogical Research at Samford University in Birmingham Alabama completing courses: “Research in the Old South”, “Advanced Methodology and Research” and “Virginia Her Records and Her Laws.”
